‘We are extremely proud of this achievement,’ commented Philip Crowe, Chairman of Ickleford Parish Council. ‘It is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of my fellow councillors and our Clerk, Katrina Henshaw. To be the first parish council in North Herts to receive this award is a tremendous accolade.’
The Council has had to pass a series of tests before being granted quality status. These include determining:
- how effective it is in communication and community engagement
- how it runs council meetings
- the electoral mandate of councillors
- the qualifications of the Clerk
- the transparency and accuracy of its accounts, and
- how it promotes local democracy and citizenship
‘These are exciting times for Ickleford Parish Council and the residents of the village’, noted Miles Maxwell, Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council. ‘This scheme has allowed us to compare ourselves against good practice benchmarks. Accreditation shows that Ickleford PC meets these benchmarks, and demonstrates to our local community and partners that we are able to deliver efficient services’.
